TierOne is designed to use a small, fast storage device to accelerate a Windows PC. With TierOne, the faster,
smaller device compliments the slower, larger device already in the PC. The slower, larger device is referred to as
a Hard Disk Drive (HDD), while the faster, smaller device is referred to as a Solid State Drive (SSD). The SSD is
not included with the TierOne product, and must be purchased separately.
TierOne reconfigures Windows to use the SSD for files that improve system performance, yet to not compromise
the system, or your data, if the SSD fails. Since SSD do wear out faster than HDD, this is a good policy. Your
system gets the benefits of SSD speed, without suffering from SSD endurance limitations. Since SSD have less
capacity than HDD, again this is a good policy. Your system gets the benefits of SSD speed, while utilizing HDD
capacity.
Even if you already have multiple HDDs in your PC, you can still add a SSD, use TierOne, and the performance
benefits are system-wide.
Most products that improve PC performance are clean-up utilities, but TierOne is software that leverages a SSD to
accelerate the computer, using Storage Tiering concepts.
Because TierOne only needs a small SSD, it saves you money while dramatically improving PC performance.
Using TierOne with a SSD is like adding memory to your computer. SSD speeds are so much faster than HDD,
accessing files in the SSD feels like they are in the computer's memory.
TierOne works on most Windows computers, including older 32-bit systems that are not capable of adding more
memory.
TierOne has been tested in Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It is not yet recommended for Windows
Millenium, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, or Windows 2008. If you would like to use one of these Windows
versions, please send us a request through the Contact Us page.
